Hello Exe-Calibre

You will have realised that we did not have the number for Henley this weekend, so training is going ahead as normal on Sunday.

You can sign up for the next few events at the Race Spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VgsxZmArP6Zeo9YcvMtJJcFDCKmUsNXEZqQoWxMeax4/edit?usp=sharing>. The dates and when we will make a decision to go are:

  * Sunday 5th November (decision to be made on 22nd Oct)
  * Sunday 25th November (decision to be made on 11th Nov)
  * Saturday 9th December (decision to be made on 25th November)
To attend we will need 18 paddlers plus a drum and helm, and ideally someone to tow the boat to Henely.

What is Henley you ask?
It is a race out on the River Thames of 7.5km, and takes 35-40minutes to complete. Each crew is set off 30 seconds apart (slowest first, fastest last) and is a loop that goes downstream, around an island, back up stream, past another island and then a 500m dash to the finish line.
We usually aim to be there by 9am, racing is at 10:30 and then we are all packed up by 12ish.

It is possible to go up and back to the event in a day, though some will stay overnight. Very often the team will visit a local tavern for a team lunch.

Training over the next few weeks and months will be focusing on preparation for this longer race such as building stamina, leg power and drive. So please do come to training to help your self and your fellow team members prepare for these events. Even if you don’t plan to race, being at training enables sessions to go ahead and is valuable to everyone.

So please signup to the Henley races, and commit to training so that we can get out in our kit!

Ciao Lauren

Ps. Thursdays training is on the edge numbers wise. A decision if it will go ahead will be made Thursday lunchtime
