[Team] All think racing in 2023

This is a note about all things racing!


The BDA has released most of their race dates for 2023, these can be found on the racing spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VgsxZmArP6Zeo9YcvMtJJcFDCKmUsNXEZqQoWxMeax4/edit?usp=sharing>. Regattas usually consists of a few 200m, 500m races and some type of longer distance race.  We aim to share travel to reduce costs and the events are a great way to experience the reason we train as well as being a great way to meet other paddlers and socialise.

On the racing spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VgsxZmArP6Zeo9YcvMtJJcFDCKmUsNXEZqQoWxMeax4/edit?usp=sharing> please add your name, your preferred side to paddle and a one or zero on the dates available during the year. The intent is two or three weeks before the race event we will be able to make a call on whether we will attend or not. Generally speaking we would like to take 18 paddlers plus our own helm and drummer to events.


In order to race you need to have a British Dragonboat Association<https://www.dragonboat.org.uk/the-bda/bda-membership/bda-membership-platform/> (BDA) membership. This membership covers your insurance for racing as well as for club activities we doing courage you to sign up.


The last Henley date has been published, and is Saturday 22nd of April. This is a longer 7.5km race on the River Thames usually followed by a group lunch.


Exe-Calibre has been asked to host a regatta on Saturday 26th August (Bank holiday). Before we can confirm that this is possible we must have a set of volunteers who can undertake all the preparation prior to the event (e.g. booking first aid, safety boats, rubbish collection, arranging with Quay stakeholders site management etc). If this is something you can commit to doing please let me know by Sunday 26th. We do have information on what has been done and arrange in the past which can be used as a reference point.
